Most museums and institutions in Amsterdam are open during national holidays, although opening hours may vary. To be sure, always check the website of a museum or attraction before your visit for exact opening hours.

King's Day (April 27)

Koningsdag or King's Day is a national holiday in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Celebrated on 27 April, the date marks the birth of King Willem-Alexander. Celebrations: Partying, wearing orange costumes, and traditional local gatherings.

Most museums and attractions are closed on King's Day. The Anne Frank House, Artis, Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam, MOCO Museum, Rijksmuseum and Stedelijk Museum, among others, will be open during King's Day.

Please note: public transportation and many streets are disrupted due to the city's festivities.

Remembrance and Liberation Day (May 4/5)

Christmas and New Year's Eve
